Product details

According to the classification of materials, heat sinks are mainly divided into aluminum heat sinks, copper heat sinks and copper-aluminum heat sinks; According to the manufacturing process, they can be divided into aluminum extrusion heat sinks, skiving fins heat sinks, bonded fin heatsink, zipper fin heatsink, cold forged heatsink, folded fin heatsink, vapor chamber, heat pipe heatsink, liquid cold plate, etc.

Different heat sinks have their own characteristics, and we will also provide you with better heat dissipation solutions according to your requirements. Below we will introduce you to the heat sink and its characteristics according to the different processes.

Aluminum extruded heat sink

Aluminum extruded heat sinks is also known as heat sink extrusion or extruded aluminum heat sink. Aluminum extrusion heat sink technology is to heat aluminum ingots to 520~540℃ at high temperature, under high pressure to let the aluminum liquid flow through the heat sink extrusion mold with grooves, to make the extruded heat sink material. Then, after cutting the heat sink extrusion material, the extruded aluminum heat sink we often see is made. Aluminum extrusion heat sink technology is easy to realize, and the cost of equipment is relatively low, so it has been widely used in the low-end market in previous years.

Feature:

1. More efficient than stamping heat sink

2. More cost saving than mechanical processing

3. There are a variety of standard shapes and sizes

4. Easily customized than copper lighter, obvious advantages

Skiving Fin Heat Sink

The Skived fin technology, takes an entire piece of aluminum or copper and use special skived machine to skive fins with standard spacing and a certain thickness and height. By using this technology to make the skiving fin heat sink.

Advantage

1. Perfect conductivity between base and fins.

2. High density fin, Awind skived fin process can make the skived fin more thinner and denser, with higher heat transfer efficiency.

3. Relative to other processing technology, by using skiving fin technology the same volume of raw materials can be cut out more heat dissipation area, and the heat transfer performance is more stable.

4. Compared with aluminum extrusion and other processes, skived fin heat sink is less limited in size and can be made wider, which can be used for heat transfer of machines with large power.

5. Customized skiving fin heat sink does not need expensive tooling but can provides greater design flexibility. Instead, each skiving fin is cut separately using the same tool which allows for lower tooling costs.

Bonded Fin Heat Sink

Bonded fin heat sink is made by aluminum/copper base with individual fins bonded into the grooves. Bonded fin technique is a conventional high power heat sink manufacturing technique.

Features

1. Higher aspect ratio and high fin density of fins increase cooling surface area so the heat sink with high performance.

2. Lower thermal resistance for the high power device heat dissipation.

3. Aluminum fin, copper base, aluminum base can be assembled into bonded fin assemblies.

4. Fins fabricated from sheet metal or extrusion, custom designs available, the metal plate is made of fins, which can be cut to a specific size.

5. We can customize your wings according to thermal performance requirements and packaging size height restrictions. For more complex designs, we can extrude fins to specific shapes and lengths.

6. Used for high power forced convection cooling applications.

7. Bonding resin with highly thermal conductive for minimal thermal loss.

8. Dissipate more heat than the conventional heat sinks with the same footprint.

9. Reduce heat sink and overall system volume.

10. Increase the aluminum cooling surface area by two to three times than traditional heat sink.

Zipper Fin heat sink

A zipper fin stack is constructed from a series of individual sheet metal fins that are stamped, folded, and zipped together using interlocking features. Fin lengths and gaps within a stack can vary by using different stamping dies.

Benefits

1. Simple mechanical locking structure, fewer procedures

2. The interface impedance generated by the subsequent connection between the fin and the heat-absorbing base can be compensated

3. Process quality is relatively stable, suitable for mass production.

4. Thin fins similar to the folded fin heatsinks, but more suitable for fan-sink application than folded fin heatsinks because the top of zipper fin heatsink is open.

5. Copper and aluminum fins are available.

Cold Forging Heatsink

Cold forging is a highly precise manufacturing process in which the workpiece is formed under high pressure and low temperature.Fin arrays are formed by forcing raw material into a molding die by a punch. The process ensures that no air bubbles, porosity or other impurities are trapped in the material, and thus produces products with exceptionally high quality.

Benefits

1. Improved mechanical strength

2. Improved surface finish

3. Better control of tolerance

4. Efficient use of raw materials

5. Reduced energy consumption

6. High production rate

7. Low overall cost

Folded Fin Heat Sink

Folded fin heat sinks are created by folding a single sheet of metal multiple times to create a dense finned structure. This fin structure is then soldered, brazed, or bonded using thermal epoxy, to the heat sink base. This allows the base and fins to be of different materials, and allows a base with high thermal conductivity to be paired with lightweight fins.

The benefit

1. Folded fin heatsinks can offer better thermal performance by maximizing surface area and minimizing space.

2. Folded fin heatsinks bases thicknesses can be thinner.

3. The fin thickness to fin pitch can be made smaller than that of an extruded fin heatsink.

4. The use of lightweight cooling fins resulting in reduced part weight. The lightweight fins make them particularly useful for applications where weight is important, such as man-carried or vehicle mounted products.

Vapor chamber

Vapor chamber ( VC heat sink ) is a completely closed flat-plate chamber composed of a bottom plate, a frame and a cover plate, and the inner wall of the chamber is provided with structure for absorbing liquid. The vapor chamber uses the fluid which enclosed in its own chamber to continuously evaporate and condense, so that it can quickly homogenize the temperature, so the vapor chamber can rapid heat conduction and heat diffusion.

Liquid cooling plate

Liquid cooling plate, as known as water plate, are the most efficient method of heat removal. The metal plate (typically aluminum or copper) that possesses internal tubing to allow liquids to flow through it. when a cold plate is placed on an electronic component that requires cooling, it absorbs and dissipates the heat from the component to the liquid that is then cycled through the system.

Compared with air cooling, the advantages of liquid cooling plate:

Air cooling can't meet the current heat dissipation design requirements.

At present, the demand for heat dissipation is getting higher and higher, the requirement of heat consumption is higher and higher, so a more efficient heat dissipation system is required. Therefore, the water cooling plate is more in line with the current market's heat dissipation requirement.

Compared with the air cooled system, the heat capacity of water is four times that of air, so the water cooled system has a good thermal load capacity, and at the same temperature rise and mass flow rate, the heat absorbed by water is four times that of air.

In addition to thermal performance, an added benefit of liquid cooling is noise reduction, operating near inaudible levels.
